Stage 7: VYŠŠÍ BROD/HOHENFURTH - VORDERWEIßENBACH
Route: 16.4 km, 600 m elevation gain
From the monastery, we follow the white-green-white markings into the village as far as the main square. There, we turn right and head uphill. At the first junction, turn right towards the “Maria Rast” chapel by the stone.
From there, the route continues along a steeply descending forest path; we then reach a forest track first, before turning left onto a tarmac road.
We follow it for a short distance towards Studanky, then head towards Dürnau and cross the Austrian border again. The footpath crosses the farm track and we stick to the Nordwaldkammweg.
After a long, completely straight climb, we come to a barrier. It’s worth taking a detour of about 5 minutes to the “Pilzstein”, a striking rock formation.
Back on the trail, we follow hiking trail no. 11 up to the Sternstein and the Sternsteinwarte. From there, we can continue directly to Vorderweißenbach or make a detour to the “Waldschenke” inn. This detour is marked with blue-white-blue signposts.
From the Waldschenke, you can return to the Sternstein or take hiking trail no. 28 back to the pilgrimage route shortly after the “1000 Meter Platzerl”. From there, you can descend directly to Vorderweißenbach, past a rest hut.
If you walk directly from the Sternstein to Vorderweißenbach, follow trail marker no. 24. On the way, it is worth making a short detour to the “1000 Meter Platzerl”.
We pass Eberhardschlag, continue down the village road to the Sonnenplatz estate and on past the vicarage to the village centre and the parish church of Vorderweißenbach.
