Stage 4: GENG - ZWETTL

From the church, we walk along Genger Bezirksstraße for one kilometre towards Zwettl. Just before the junction for Obergeng, a footpath leads us left into the Rodl Valley, past a farmhouse. After about 600 metres, the path branches off to the left at a garden wall. A meadow path takes us to a bridge crossing the Rodl. 

After 300 metres, we reach the popular country inn ‘Edlmühle’. If you don’t want to stop for a break, turn left before the inn and, after a few metres, follow a narrow forest path. We follow the path marked ‘Reitweg’ steeply uphill and, after about 1 km, reach a farm before coming to a chapel via a tarmac road. 

Here you can pause for a moment. The wooden door can be opened to catch a glimpse of the statue of the Pietà. 

The route continues down the Reitweg to a farm, which we pass on the right, and shortly afterwards we cross Innernschlager Straße. The path leads across a meadow, along the edge of the wood and shortly afterwards turns left into the wood, which we follow until we reach a settlement in the village of Innernschlag.

Here we soon reach Innernschlager Straße, along which we head towards Zwettl. After about 1 km, we cross Oberneukirchner Straße and walk along Lobensteinerweg towards the centre of Zwettl.
