Stage 11: OBERNEUKIRCHEN -NEUSSERLING

Route: 9,2 km, 120 m elevation gain

In Oberneukirchen, the path leads away from the church along Badstraße up to Oberneukirchner Berg.

It is well worth taking a short detour along a signposted path to the mountain cross. This was erected by the Oberneukirchen Master’s Circle on the spot where a wooden viewing tower once stood over 100 years ago. When you return to the path, you pass a small Marian chapel.

From there, there is a magnificent view of the Mühlviertel region as far as Gramastetten, and in fine weather even as far as the Alpine foothills.

We now head downhill. After a short stretch, the meadow path rejoins the 3-Castles Trail.

We continue along a farm track to Lobenstein. At a wayside shrine, we reach the Lobenstein farm track. The road now leads gently downhill into Finsterau.

There, we continue straight ahead on the Buchholz farm track. After 3 km, we reach Neudorf.

In the small village, the pilgrimage route continues to the left towards Neußerling.

After 1.5 km, the path branches off to the left of the road and leads through the woods to Hofing. After a short descent, you rejoin the road and continue to the right to Neußerling.

Once there, it is worth making a detour to the Peace Cross or visiting the bathing biotope.
